Hello,

i've installed SLAX on a USB drive and it boots fine. But my display is not very bright after bootup. The problem is that my FN + Brightness Key are not working.
Can anyone tell me how to enable brightness adjustement? My first try was to choose another keyboard layout like T60 but that had no affect.

Greetings...

Does xbacklight work ? ( I am not even sure if it is included in slax).
Open a console and type
xbacklight -set 80 (you can chabge the 80 etc for ge 90, 100 .The higher the brighter).

That's weird now.
I'm using the same USB drive, no changes and now i can't even startx any longer. How can that be? The system is the same. I've typed "xb" and then tab on console but there was no completion to xbacklight or something else.

As already said, XBacklight should definitely do the job. :)

Just in case, I thought I'd add in just a few things you could try:
1) Can you change the brightness from BIOS? Some computers I've worked on have this built-in.
2) Try seeing what's in /sys/class/backlight -- not sure if Slax will support your screen there or not.

Just a few suggestions... hope these help, too. :)
