I am running Slax 6.0.7 now, but the graphics performance is quite poor.

My notebook graphics chipset is Intel 82830M.

How to install a compatible graphics driver ?

Thanks

Thanks, fundamental.

I have downloaded the driver and extracted the files successfully.

1. Since I am a newbie, how to install the driver in Slax ?
(I have tried ./install.sh, but failed)

2. Alternatively, I have modified the 'xorg.conf' and set the driver to 'i810'. I have also changed the 'SKIP_XCONF=yes' in 'gui.conf'. How to verify whether this change being applied ?

Please help.

Any idea on how to solve the same problem with GM965 (x3100) graphics driver?

The intel driver is installed and is the accelerated driver. I think I know how to fix your problem, add this to your xorg.conf's Device Section
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"

Thanks, some-guy.

Let me try to add your options and test.

1. BTW, I have modified the 'xorg.conf' and set the driver to 'i810'. Is it correct ?

2. Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" - Could I use "XAA" ?

'intel' is the correct driver, though I'm guessing that i810 is a symlinked version of intel
XAA is older than EXA, in some cases it is better(not for long), but most of the time EXA with that workaround to speed up performance, will be faster

Just tested in xorg.conf
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"

It works and the graphics performance now becomes good.

Thanks for everybody's help.
