Does slax work on acer apire one d270 netbook?

Copy slax current build and boot folders onto a thumb drive and click on the bootinst.bat and set the boot order to usb thumbdrive but slax does not boot to the desktop. There are intial two codes loading slax on the screen and the screen turn black and did not load. Have to off the power and on but the there are initial two codes and there on turn black. Explore the options, fresh mode, graphic mode and each gives the black screen with no errors. Initally with the two codes on the screen the thumbdrive light is flashing but with the screen turn black the thumb drive light no more flashing. Re copy the folder and bootinst did not solve the problem. Initially clicking on the bootinst the error is access to the drive is denied and know the problem is the drive letter. Use the cmd to navigate to F drive but the C:\ refuse to change to F:\. The cmd gives

F:\
C:\

But the problem is solve using other com cmd and the mbr is written to the thumbdrive. But booting the thumbdrive gives the black screen. Anyone knows how to rectify the problem?

@ sipoe ... you could try running bootinst.bat again, this time after signing on as admin, and then open a cmd window, change directory to the thumbdrive, then cd to /boot and run bootinst.bat. Don't think it works correctly by clicking on the bootinst.bat file from Win Explorer.

You might also try booting to Text mode -- if that works then the problem is something with your video hardware, maybe no driver in Slax.

BB,

Have try using admin to log in to use the cmd to install the mbr but did not solve the problem. There are some user of aspire one in the forum with no problem booting slax. Previously cd F:\ but on the cmd does not goes to F:\

Uhmmm ... well, the command to change to a different volume does not use cd, instead just enter the volume name "F: (and then hit Enter)" which should cause the cmd window to go to the F:\ prompt. THEN cd to \boot to run the command.

If you say "cd F:\" then it's trying to change to a local directory which doesn't exist.

And of course, you must first be sure which drive letter windows has assigned to your usbstick.

Believe me, the bat file works -- I have used it many times.

As a sidenote to y'all, cd or chdir does work--it's that sipoe was using it wrong. :) It's either like bb said--do a direct drive change, like E:, or do this: 'chdir /d E:' (no quotes), *not* 'cd E:', which won't work.
