If you use windows, try to use SYSLINUX version 5x for bootloader

Also replace your *.c32 files with syslinux's c32 files in zip.

(syslinux 4.62 which is shipped with slax is bugged. It cant edit other entries with default tab button. always editing first entry even selecting others')

thanks,
but I installed it by linux(slax),and
the syslinux in slax 7.08 is the lasted version(5.01)

then,I serach the info(failed to load com32 file /slax/boot/vesamenu.c32) on BING.COM

i find :

http://distacks.com/life/2013/02/000053.html

then I put them into translate.google.com

Install CentOS6.3 on NUC with reference to the above site.

Along the way, but there was also a place to jam, complete the final installation.

where when you install the MBR on USB memory using syslinux, utilizing the latest syslinux5.01, an error occurs during USB boot.

failed to load com32 file vesamenu.c32

This thing that came out, it is said to be a state syslinux boot is for the time being. Because it seems to be due to inconsistencies in the file for the menu, so it is a good idea to run by changing the version (for reference).

where you re-install the MBR using syslinux4.05, I was able to start without error.

first sorry for late answer,
but im using 5.00 with slax 7.0.5.
try use it with slax. if you want, i can copy my boot folder and contents (with syslinux 5.00 c32 images and both 32-64 executables for windows)

note: i have included reboot.c32 and chain.c32 etc with my flash
note2: also you can try putting boot folder to root of usb and putting vmlinux/initrd to slax/ dir.
then edit boot/syslinux.cfg

UI /boot/vesamenu.c32

MENU TITLE Boot Loader

PROMPT 0
TIMEOUT 50

LABEL Slax-64
MENU LABEL Slax 7.0.5
KERNEL /slax/vmlinuz
APPEND initrd=/slax/initrfs.img printk.time=0 vga=0x323 rw quiet slax.flags=

if you are in windows (i was in) execute this
X:\boot\syslinux.exe -maf -d /boot/ X:
X = what is your USB drive letter.

offtopic: if you have linux binary/executable of syslinux [5.00] (32 or 64 doesnt matter) can you send me? :)

the error fail to load com 32 file after running the bootinst.sh from slax on an ext3 partition (hd or usb)
is that in slax the sbin/extlinux is 5.01 version while in the boot folder all the files are for extlinux v4.06

so just comment the if and fi line for forcing bootinst.sh to use the /slax/boot/extlinux.exe binary not the inner slax return by which :

EXTLINUX="$(which extlinux 2>/dev/null)"
#if [ "$EXTLINUX" = "" ]; then
EXTLINUX="./extlinux.exe"

no luck

still:

failed to load com32 file /slax/boot/vesamenu.c32

which fi line to comment out please?
sloppy programming!
